because the world shunned her
for having a black heart
that wouldn't function.
(If you picked her up,
you would feel her bones sticking out of her back.
She would never eat anymore
because she felt like food was poison
that would kill her body.
She had the most beautiful high cheekbones,
but everyone always thought she was a emotional mess
who couldn't live.)

She's an expert at lying to herself
who stares into the mirror for hours
trying to find herself again,
but she lost herself when you left.
(She's always trying to pick up the broken pieces,
but there's nothing left to her anymore

Just like you.Maybe I go through the day humming my favorite song
because sometimes I have nightmares
whenever I close my eyes.
You make me insane every single time you rise in my mind,
but my mind can't help but love you.
(My mind has always been a demon,
but you've never made death look so beautiful.)

I sleep on the floor with my favorite blanket
holding my knees together
because the world is empty and cold without you here,
(there's too many people to ache over.)

I never really knew how to love.
You see,
when I was little my dad would always tell me stories
about how he felt broken,
and no one would ever help him.

because my mind always plays survival of the fittest
in the most dangerous ways
to try and twist my heart

since I'm playing God in the tips of my fingers
because our world is like walking on fire,
but hell is nothing compared
to living without you.

I admit that I've always been the type
to believe your heart will never stay attached
because sometimes you can lose yourself

but insecurity has always been the newest trend.)

to try to scare the demons in your head away,
but you only believed that you were cheating death.)

who had broken souls
that never healed.
